PC and I have another trip to Haiti planned. We leave a week from Thursday. Every time I tell someone about the trip, his or her face lights up, all, "Yay! Finally!"-like. Then I get to say, "This is not the trip where we bring her home," followed with some "Ohs" and head shaking. Unfortunately, this trip is purely for visitation, though there are lots of "fortunatelies" wrapped inside that one "unfortunately." First of all, we will get to hug and kiss Vivine, who might, in fact, already be our daughter according to the Haitian government (hoping to sort that out when we get there). Secondly, we will share the trip with some very special people, including my brother, Adam, and my co-conspirator in knitting, hair-cutting, and wedding-dress-trying-on, Madeline. (And Madeline's husband, who, I think, was much more amused by the wedding-dress thing than PC was.)
I have e-mailed the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in Haiti to request a meeting while we are down there. Pray we hear back before the trip so we can get some important adoption business done. With God's blessing, this will be the last trip we make before THE trip.
**Update on 2/11: We got an appointment at the embassy. 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23. The hair on my neck is standing up just thinking about it.
